Bassing - Our code of ethics

Our members are expected to have the same or similar ethics to the following list of ethics. Remember, 99% of the interaction at Bassing.co.za takes place in a forum. We also have chat, private mails, and so forth. You do have a commitment to make and it is towards those you share the forums with.

  1. You are expected to be polite when dealing with others. This does not mean that you must simply allow yourself to be without a voice, it does however mean that you can disagree with anything as long as you are polite and without overt aggression.
  2. In this light, you will understand that flaming is not allowed. Flaming is the practice of using the written word to belittle, harrass, or generally torment other members on a personal level. We are emphatic that this is not allowed. Again, we reiterate, if you have something to say, an accusation to make, or if you feel strongly that something is totally wrong, you have every right to say so. Just don't get personal.
  3. Our members are expected to do a lot more than take. Yes, the message boards are rich with information but we expect you to also participate in giving back information, even if it is only to report your days experience on the water.
  4. We hope to encourage family participation. Children and ladies alike are most welcome. This of course means a liberal smattering of swearwords won't be seen in a good light. We are sure you can make your point without having to use a 4 letter word!
  5. Honesty is crucial. Every member will initially take everything you say at face value. When you are fishing for thousands of rands, a lie (even a white lie) can cost members a lot of money. Anyone found lying will be asked to leave.
