Thread: Randburg venues anyone?

Hey peeps, i haven't fished in two years and before that only fished bass once, it was the experience of a lifetime, a farm dam in the eastern cape. On a plastic frog and a black fury (no. 3) i had a lucky day and pulled in 7 bass and a small trout in the space of four hours. So there's my story of getting hooked. Now i've gotten my act together, read up on different rigs, bait types, seasons and bass behaviour and it's time to start learning through experience. My question is, does anyone know of venues where i can go and fish in the area of randburg? I have some time mid day and i'd like to get to places not too far away since work calls again later in the afternoon. Any help will be greatly appreciated and i'll be sure to report back on what works if it works! Thanks!

Hi Dace, welcome to the site. There is a dam in the fourways area, behind the mall. There are some good bass in there. I'm not sure what the fishing is like there at the moment, cause it does weed over, and the council de-weeds it every now and then, so if there are no weeds this could be an option for you.

welcome Dace, i have fished that little pond and its gots some nice fish, havent fished there is while now, my guess is that those weeds must have coved the whole dam by now, anyway go give it a try, the dam is called witkoppen dam. have fun, lures to use, watermelon red and junebug senkos 5inch

Hi, it's a public park. Just do the right thing and carry a fishing licence at all times, there have been okes chasing guys away but if you have a licence they have no right to tell you JACK!

Any tackle shop should have one. It's R25 for the year, worth having rather than anyone giving you crap.

Phone first, some shops don't have licences .......
