Thread: Snake Lures

Has anybody used the Snake lures that are advertised in the fishing mags? How do they work? Do they catch fish like they say? Can they be fished off the bank?

Hi Have some. Used them a couple of times but have not caught anything with them, but to be honest I only tried them for a couple of weeks and never again!

I received a sample pack from Sergio a while back and unfortunately have only tested them once for a short period at Goedertrouw.

Pro's: Awesome action, definitely a big fish bait
Con's: Cumbersome to cast, not susceptible to sun/heat

I have melted two 9 inch trick worms together before which also gave an awesome action, but alas have not managed to hook a fish on it yet.

My personal opinion is that they will not do the trick. This is only based on two occassions at Rusties where I encountered small snakes (cobras) in the shallows. There where several estimated 1kg bass in the surroundings. They however didn't seem to be bothered. Must add that there could be other factors involved as well.
