Sorry Paul, I can't do that to you. What happens if you don't make it through to the 2011 Classic because you marshaled a Challenge? Thanks for the offer though.

If we could work around this problem, I ( and I am sure many others ) would gladly help out with the marshalling. We can't expect the KBBC's to be a success if we as competitors don't bring our pound of flesh, BUT I don't want to miss out on a Classic.
Is it a bird?! Is it a plane?! NO!! It's a dubble blade buzzbait!!!

OK if you insist what can I say but thanks - I'll put your name down, should I put it down to marshal the 2011 Classic too?

Okay, assuming that the marshall tows a boat from Kempton Park to Boskop on the 6th March (sorry I cant - I'm fishing fishing a BETT leg @ Bivane):

Tow vehicle @ AA Rate (4.0l SUV Petrol) of about R 4.25 / km x 225 km = R 956.00. If you think that this sounds excessive, just the tow vehicle petrol for me would work out to about R 440 - (Add cost of tyre wear (car & trailer), Servicing & Depreciation).

Add gate & launch fees at the event and say another 10l of boat petrol/ outboard oil mix which would easily add another R 150 - R200 to the day.

That's the bottom line, it will cost any Bass Boat Owning Marshall living on the East Rand somewhere between R 600 & R 1 000 (depending on vehicle / boat combo) out of his pocket before drinking, eating (or camping) to marshall a KBC event @ Boskop.

Hope that this is helpful on the thinking regarding resolution of the problem for future events.

The biggest issue would appear to be distance, (towing my boat from Isando to Murray Park or Homestead for example would not incur such heavy cost), therefore I suggest staging the series on "Compact" venues which are "Local" to Gauteng if the current format of marshalls weighing fish as soon as possible is upheld. "Compact" would allow use of small duckies with electric motors and "Local" would cut travel costs for marshalls to a point where they would be negligable and probably, if you gave 'em gate money & a few beers & hot dogs they would be happy to attend.
