Thread: Bass Africa Classic - Vaal River 14 to 16 August 2009

Attached is the entry form. They don't give details of the prizes yet so I don't expect everyone will want to jump up and enter after the huge lack of entries at Inanda and subsequent remodeling of the prize structure.

However, I would love it if we had a good contingent of entries in this years tournament. Vaalboy (Mark) asked me to join him on the river for the tourney, and I will in turn see to it that Shane (my normal partner) will also fish it with my Brother in law, plus I am sure a few fans who have attended prior years tourneys will be there too.

It's a perfect opportunity to hang out with fellow bassing.co.za members, to braai together, and more importantly, to share information about the catches so that the competition goes as well as possible for everyone.

One problem I can see is that it is darn expensive! R1500 per team of two. Of course, this event normally has great prizes but I am not counting on that till I see it in print.

On offer to Bassing.co.za members who attend - I will have a small batch of competition style shirts made up with Bassing.co.za on it and Bass Africa Classic on it as well. I will pay the first R100 of a shirt for each member. If I get an indication of how many guys would attend, I will then make inquiries about the shirt. It will be a light weight tournament style shirt though (Nascar style).

I am tempted to enter this one, must see what the kids want to do. Maybe one of them will partner me.

Well if they don't want to I'll fish it with you, we did ok there for the ESA and the traffic wont be so bad at that time of year. August i may even have my COF :-) (time to let bygones be bygones)

It also gives me a few good excuses to go pre fishing -

The plan is to tow my boat up and spend time on some dams up north.
My daughter is getting married middle September in Phalaborwa so I will fish those Limpopo dams as well.
I intend entering for the BassAfrica tournament on the Vaal, just need to clarify leave dates with our company.
I have been waiting for this one as I think the Vaal is a "thinking" piece of water and intend to fish it alone.The aim is to concentrate without having to consider a partner, and that does not mean that I dont like fishing with partners.
We capies do not have lots of tournaments to fish and I now may have an opportunity to fish with the best up north.
BB please keep us informed of dates and the rest if possible.
