I have been given one by Gani's to test drive. I am using it on my Crankbaits (ratio 5.4 - 1) and find it a very good reel (value for money). It cast quite a distanse, very smooth and if set up properly the minimum overwinds. My son also have 3 Tica Sculptor's for over 3 years now and although not fished as often as my Abu's they do deliver the goods and have not given any problems in this time.
If you are looking for a entry priced quality reel this will be the one.
I work to Fish
I just bought that exact one from Gani's about 2 weeks ago but have not had a chance to try it out yet. I am keeping it for my heavy rod, going to put 40 or 50lb braid on it.
I also bought the Tica Thalos HC100H and used it at Exclusiv Bass on Tuesday - nice reel! Had an overwind but that's because I was still trying it out and still setting it, and also because I had 18lb mono on it because I'm using it for jigs and "heavy" cranks like the DD22.
The Thalos is a 7 bearing, the Tactica an 11 bearing. I got the 6.2:1 ratio.
You should pay around R600 for the Thalos, and R700 for the Tactica from Gani's.
I ALSO bought the Shimano Citica Bantam 200 (D or E), Gani's had "old stock" and got it for about R600 as well. What a nice reel, considering only 2 bearing system, i was VERY surprised how nice it was!
