    Default Input Requested

BigB and I are moving forward at a quick pace, but we have come to an issue where we want some input from the members.

BigB has expressed that the Zoom Fluke is without a doubt a staple in your diet. My question is, if you could make any changes to the Fluke, what woud it be? I am not looking for colors, etc., I am looking for input on actual design issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The sooner we come to a resolution, the sooner I put the mold into production.

Yip there is no doubt that the Zoom Fluke is a winner in SA and is very much the confidence bait for a lot of SA Anglers... Personally I wouldn’t change the mould at all except maybe give it bumps for the eyes if you have to make a slight change... but Howie is the Fluke expert on our boat!

If we could get the El Grande colours in a perfect fluke shape... now that would be a winner!

One of my biggest frustrations is the frequent tearing of the nose when setting the hook, especially when Trigged. Another problem with certain makes is that when retrieved like a jerk bait, the fluke spirals and spins. This is is compounded when using a small bullet sinker. I hardly ever have this with Zoom, but often with Strike King Ztoo's.

I know that this may seem like an odd request, but I'd like to see a standard fluke with a tail double the size of normal, I feel that it may give a more realistic vibration with the extra resistance, and might make the fluke fall more horizontally, and possibly a bit slower. Reasoning: the bigger tail may balance out the weight of the head by the drag it causes in the water. I know that it will probably look odd, but I feel that it will make a difference. When it comes to colour ............

The Zoom material is not durable and if it could have the duribility of the Strike King/Z-Man 3X material that would be great. In sizes 3", 5" & 7".

I agree with Vaalboy, a little bit tougher plastic for the nose section.

Gills on the side about 3 or 4 tiny ones almost like something to make it look more realistic

Durability seems to a number one issue. Can the bait be too durable? Saltwater plastic is an option and is considerably tougher, but you will lose some action.

I think that something like a hardnose bait would be better if it is possible. Just the nose area tougher, so you still have the action, but don't need to change it after every second fish. Is it do-able?

    Hi Mark,

Use a drop of super glue on the hook shank just below the eye, not only does it stop the spiral and keep you lure set straight, but it also protects the nose from tearing and increases it's life span. It is still easy to change the lures etc.
